  Satheesh Kumar S        05/Sep/2016

leap second is a one-second adjustment that is occasionally applied to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) in order to keep its time of day (ToD) close to the mean solar time, or UT1. Leap second system was introduced in 1972. Since 30th June 1972 until 31st December 2016, 27 Leap second was applied in UTC. The next leap second will be inserted on December 31, 2016, at 23:59:60 UTC.
